A. Therapists, administrators, facility educators, dementia program directors, nurses, CNAs, activities, social workers, dietary, housekeeping, and support staff all benefit from this interdisciplinary training course.
Q. What is Instructor Authorization?
A. With successful completion of the Three-Day Instructor Program, Instructors are authorized to purchase and use CPI training materials to teach the seven-hour One-Day Foundation Course within their own organization.
Q. Who can become authorized?
A. Any professional who wants to enhance the quality of life and level of independence for those with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias and has the desire to teach others.
Q. How does someone become authorized?
A. A professional becomes authorized by successfully completing the Three-Day Instructor Program. All health professionals are invited to become authorized.
Q. Why should someone become authorized?
A. Authorization allows an organization to create a consistent abilities-based approach among all staff for treatment of those with Alzheimer’s and related dementias so that they can achieve their functional and emotional potentials.
Q. Does DCS provide training specifically for therapists?
A. Yes, DCS offers the Foundation Course and Dementia Therapy Applications, designed to shift therapists from an impairment-based practice to an abilities-based practice. In addition, Two-Day Dementia Therapy Intermediate Course is available, which challenges therapists to achieve a greater understanding of how to apply both the Allen Model and the Theory of Retrogenesis to evaluation, treatment intervention, documentation, and programming.
Q. What are the benefits of therapists training?
A. Some of the benefits include learning the ability to appropriately identify clients in need of therapy services, gaining knowledge to perform a cognitive assessment to identify realistic goals and treatment approaches for those at all stages of dementia, and developing skills to facilitate the best ability to function and document services.
Q. Can Dementia Capable Care training be customized to my organization’s needs?
A. Our team possesses the skills and experience to work with the interdisciplinary team in long-term care and home health care. Our services can include a competency and/or needs assessment, training as follow-up to initial training programs, and on-site consultation to therapy personnel and support staff as follow-up to initial training programs. Q. Can CPI deliver Dementia Capable Care training at my workplace so my employees don’t need to travel?
A. We can bring this course directly to your facility or organization. On-site training is an effective option if you have a number of staff members who need training. Just pick a date that’s convenient for you and we’ll handle the rest of the details. Training can be scheduled to fit your schedule, at a time and location that are most convenient for staff.
